As another ski season approaches, it's time to get up to speed on the new resorts, new skis and snowboards on the market and, most importantly, the new online resources to help you make sense of it all.

The past year has witnessed a number of new offerings for those heading to the slopes, as well as new tricks for some of the most established ski Web sites. The following Web sites are all worth a look in advance of booking this year's excursion...

... www.liftopia.com Remember the good old days when chairlift tickets cost about $10 per day? Well a day skiing at Deer Valley Resort in Utah will set you back $77 this year, while Aspen Ski Resort, not to be outdone, intends to charge a cool $82 per day. Liftopia, currently flying under the radar in "beta" testing, is set to launch later this year and promises to offer lift ticket savings not available anywhere else. Simply print out your ticket confirmation e-mail from Liftopia and present it at the will-call window of your mountain resort of choice. Keep in mind, however, that all purchases are final, regardless of whether you actually use the lift tickets to ski. ...
